Stoke-on-Trent based contract furniture manufacturer LiDR has spread some festive cheer for youngsters at The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice after donating gifts made to celebrate the firm’s 30th anniversary.
Earlier this year, the Stoke-on-Trent based contract furniture manufacturer created a replica of a toy train which was one of the first items the firm ever made when it was formed in 1986.
After originally setting up in the toy industry, the firm evolved early on to make educational furniture – which was a springboard to becoming a supplier for a wide-range of market sectors.
The company now employs 30 people and operate under the core values of a family business. The garage workshop of 30 years ago has now evolved into an impressive premises based in Campbell Road, Stoke.
To celebrate Christmas and give something back to the local community, LiDR have now donated the toy train to The Donna Louise Trust in Trentham for children to enjoy.
Andrew Leake, Managing Director at LiDR, who formed the company at his Sneyd Green home 30-years ago, said: “The toy train was one of the first items we created in my garage workshop at home when we formed the company. It is a landmark year for LiDR with it being our 30th anniversary – something we are very proud of – so we decided to make a replica of the toy train earlier this year, and thought it’d be nice to give something back to a fantastic local charity.
“We read most weeks about the fantastic work The Donna Louise Children’s Hopsice carry out. We hope the train is a nice Christmas present to the children at the hospice and one they enjoy.”
Vicky Smith, Relationship Manager for The Donna Louise Hospice, said: “On behalf of us all at the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice, please accept our heartfelt thanks to all of team at LiDR for the donation of the wonderful toy train.
“This will be a fantastic addition to our play room at the Hospice and will be enjoyed thoroughly by our children and their brothers and sisters.
“The Hospice care and support children with life limiting conditions and their families across the whole of Staffordshire and Cheshire. Donations like this really helps to make such a difference to our children during their stay here, it is such a lovely gift.”
