LiDR Contract Furniture has signed a contract worth over £120,000 with fellow family run firm Kettle and Talbot Ltd, also from Stoke, to provide furniture for the new student accommodation, which will be built in Stoke town centre.
The building, which consists of 122 student bedrooms and lounge areas, will be available for students at both Staffordshire University and Keele University to use.
LiDR has been working with Ovenden Associates, (Kettle and Talbot’s Quantity Surveyor and Construction Manager) to develop a bed, wardrobe, desk, dining table, wall shelving unit, reception and postal areas that are high quality enough to stand up to the required use, but also meet the budget.
Eleanor Owen, LiDR Company Director, said: “It has taken a lot of hard work to secure the contract, and we’re delighted to have done so.
“Our recent investment in sophisticated plant and equipment means we can be competitive on student accommodation and hotel contracts, and it is a market in which we are working hard to increase our growth in the near future.”
The work will begin later this summer ahead of the building being officially opened in September.
LiDR has recently rebranded from Little Dreams Ltd, under which they operated for 30 years.
